Biography

Randall
Kaplan is the founder of JUMP Investors, an angel network
of experienced and successful Internet and business entrepreneurs
that invests in and helps to build early-stage Internet companies.
Since its formation in 1999, JUMP has made over 20 investments.
In
August 1998, Mr. Kaplan co-founded Akamai Technologies, an
Internet content and applications delivery company with market
capitalization exceeding $24 billion. From August 1999 through
May 1999, Mr. Kaplan served as vice president, business development,
where he assisted companies with initial financing which,
included participation of many strategic angel investors.
Prior to founding Akamai Technologies, Mr. Kaplan served as
managing director, corporate development at SunAmerica Inc.,
a financial services company with over $120 billion in assets.
Mr.
Kaplan serves on the board of directors of The Brain, LLC
and on the board of advisors of Need2Buy.com and MyContracts.com.
He is a member of the board of directors of Bet Tzedek Legal
services and the founder, producer and chair of The Justice
Ball, a charity event for young professionals. Mr. Kaplan
received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the
University of Michigan and law degree from Northwestern University
School of Law.

We
are fortunate to be able to welcome Randall Kaplan as a guest
speaker in our IOM 532 evening class on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Randall
is a Co-Founder of Akamai (www.akamai.com),
a leading Web infrastructure provider, and Founder and President
of JumpInvestors (www.jumpinvestors.com),
a Los Angeles based venture capitalist. Among its investments
are well known firms such as TheBrain Technologies (www.thebrain.com),
a developer of knowledge management tools, and Xdrive Technologies
(www.xdrive.com), a provider
of digital storage solutions.
The
guest lecture is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM in the Edison
Auditorium in the Hoffman Hall building of the Marshall School
of Business.
As
usually, I am inviting all of my MBA student as well as the
members of the Marshall Strategy Club.
